Club Roles

Young Farmers Clubs are ‘run by the members for the members’. The way this works is that club officers are elected every year at an AGM (Annual General Meeting) and they are responsible for all the major decision making that goes on in the club, from planning the programme to running meetings etc.

The main club officer roles are:
· Club Chairman & Vice-Chairman
· Club Secretary
· Club Treasurer

County Roles

The Surrey Federation of Young Farmers Clubs (SFYFC) is run in a similar way to the clubs. Members run all the committees that run the county, with the support of Advisory (Adult) members.

The main County roles are:
· County Chairman & Vice-Chairman
· Development/F&GP (Finance & General Purpose) Chairman
· Competitions Chairman
· Cowpie Chairman.

Junior Activity Weekends

Each year Surrey YFC runs an activity weekend for it’s members aged 10-16. These weekends are run at different places, with different activities and themes, but the emphasis is always on learning  new skills and having fun. Weekends in recent years have included high ropes, canoeing, camping, raft building, orienteering and survival skills.

Senior Activity Events

Surrey YFC runs events through the year for members aged 16+. These events could be anything from ice skating through to mountain boarding, or just sharing  pizza with friends!

For members 18 and over National YFC offers travel opportunities through their Discovery programme. This is a unique opportunity to experience new cultures, make new friends and really broaden horizons.

Austria, Canada, Sweden and Germany are just four of the destinations on offer and the trips vary from one week to three months. There is a choice between Homestay, Team Travel or Working Exchanges.
